Fèis Ìle is here and whilst we can’t celebrate on Thursday, as we have in the past, you are invite to join Kilchoman online on the 28th May to follow the journey of their whiskies from barley to bottle, meet a couple of the team and enjoy a few drams along the way.
Barley to Bottle Interviews - 12:00 to 16:00
Meet the key people as we follow the whisky-making journey from barley to bottle. The interviews will premier on Facebook, Instagram and Youtube, each followed by a live Q&A.
Here the schedule...
12:00 (BST): Talk all things... cows, barley, sheep and Islay with the General Manager.
13:00 (BST): On the malt floor... meet up with Maltman Derek, to disover the art of malt flooring.
14:00 (BST): take parrt in th discussion about the intricacy of stills and the destillation process with Production Manager Robin.
15:00 (BST): Go to the warehouse for an oerview ofthe maturing stocks with Anthony, Kilchoman Founder.
18:00 (BST): Crack open a bottle from the core range and join George & Peter Wills as they taste through the best known whiskies of Kilchoman and also some limited editions, including Machir Bay, Sanaig, Loch Gorm 2020 and 100% 9th Edition.
19:00 (BST): Explore how different varieties of barley and yeast influence of the character of Kilchoman's whisky. Anthony will compare two 2019 bourbon barrels, one distilled from Concerto barley, the other from Octavia barley. As well as two 2019 Sherry cask samples, one which used Kerry yeast during fermentation, the other used Mauri yeast.
20:00 (BST): CASK AUCTION OPENS FOR BIDS + LIVE TASTING – FÈIS ÌLE RELEASE
Due to the cancellation of Fèis Ìle 2020, this years release is an online exclusive with just 2630 bottles available at cask strength (54.2%). This release is matured in ex-bourbon barrels for a minimum of 12 years. The Fèis Ìle Release and Tasting Packs will be available from the Kilchoman website at 2pm on Tuesday 12th May. Limited to two bottles per person and unfortunately we are currently unable to ship to the USA.
